Leonida Fusani, PhD

Head of the Lab

I study the physiological mechanisms that underlie complex and elaborate behaviour, with a focus on avian migration and courtship display. I studied in Firenze, Italy, and Cambridge, UK, and worked in Germany, Italy, and USA before settling in Vienna. I have a double appointment at the Konrad Lorenz Institute of Ethology, University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna, of which I am the Director, and at the Department of Behavioural and Cognitive Biology, University of Vienna. I like combining laboratory and field work and strive to spend a good part of my time collecting data and starting new, exciting projects together with my collaborators and students.
